Everything you need to know
Is the word counter accurate?
Yes. The counter splits text by spaces and line breaks, following the same rule as word processors like Word or Google Docs. Results may vary slightly with hyphenated words or contractions depending on language, but it's precise for 99% of use cases.
How many words should an SEO article have?
To rank well on Google, blog articles typically need between 1,500 and 2,500 words for competitive topics, and between 800 and 1,500 for specific long-tails. The most important thing is to cover the topic in depth: word count is a consequence, not a goal.
Can I count characters for Twitter or LinkedIn?
Yes. The counter shows real-time character counts and compares them with the limits for Twitter/X (280), Meta Ads (125), Instagram bio (150) and LinkedIn post (3,000). A progress bar tells you how much space you have left or if you've exceeded the limit.
Is there a limit to how much text I can paste?
No. The counter has no length limit. You can paste complete documents, book chapters or long texts without any problem. All processing happens in your browser, without sending data to any server.
Does it work with multiple languages?
Yes. It works with any language that separates words with spaces (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, etc.). In languages without spaces between words (e.g. Chinese or Japanese) the word count is indicative; the character count is usually more useful.
What is keyword density and what is it for?
Keyword density is the percentage of times a word appears relative to the total words in the text. For SEO, the main keyword is recommended to appear between 1% and 2% of the total. The counter shows the 5 most repeated words with their density so you can optimise the text.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is calculated by dividing the word count by 200, which is the average adult reading speed in words per minute. A 1,000-word article takes approximately 5 minutes to read. This is the same metric used by platforms like Medium or Substack.
